INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that the driver of a hit-and-run is from Mexico and suspected of being in the US illegally.

On Monday, May 7, Juana Noemi Loa-Nunez hit an Indianapolis teacher with her car on the eastside of Indianapolis.

The teacher, Jessica Parks, says she’s grateful to be alive and for the strangers who helped her.

Park’s friend, a school bus driver, blocked the hit-and-run driver’s car, so she couldn’t get away.

“I forgive her,” Parks said. “I just want her to let her know that. I forgive her. And sometimes, if you’re scared, fear can make you do something’s that are unnecessary. I do forgive the woman. I pray for her, and I wish her the best.”

The suspect Loa-Nunez is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license.
