Conan’s confusing gender controversy has left some pondering whether the dog at the White House was the same animal that took part in the raid to kill ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.

There have been several conflicting reports between the Pentagon and the White House as to the gender of the military dog, Conan. Conan played an important role in cornering al Baghdadi before his suicide during a raid on his lair in western Syria. The dog was injured by exposed electrical wires during the raid, but quickly recovered and was returned to duty.

The article goes on to state the following:

During a visit to the White House on Monday, President Trump claimed Conan was male, but Pentagon officials later said it was female. The conflicting reports led Fox News chief White House correspondent John Roberts and others to wonder if the dog photographed in the White House might not be the dog that cornered al Baghdadi.

“Perhaps Conan is like Lassie. There were 4 Lassies at any given time #CONANGATE,” quipped Roberts in a Twitter post, as he started the hashtag, “Conangate.”

CBS News reporter Kathryn Watson tweeted that multiple officials confirmed to her that Conan is, indeed, a male dog.  Several news anchors had referred to the dog as female in their reporting.
