A man in Illinois has been charged after allegedly threatening to shoot Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) and accusing the congressman of “backing the Russians.”

Randall Tarr, 64, of Rochester, Ill., was charged with communicating threats to injure a person and threatening to assault, kidnap or murder a federal official, according to court documents released this week.

The article goes on to state the following:

Prosecutors say that Tarr called Davis’s district office last month and left a profanity-filled voicemail, saying, “I just saw you…on the TV. You backing the Russians, boy?”

Tarr’s threatening voicemail continued, “Stupid son of a b—-, you’re gonna go against our military and back the Russians? I’m a sharpshooter…I’d like to shoot your f—— head off you stupid m—–f—–.”

In an interview later, Tarr claimed he doesn’t even own a gun and couldn’t remember saying he would shoot the congressman. He said he was angry when he saw a TV ad “in which Davis claimed that Ukraine – not Russia – had interfered in the 2016 election.”

In a press release, the Justice Department provided the following additional information:

Tarr was released from custody under conditions, including home detention and location monitoring; prohibited contact with any victims and witnesses; prohibited from consumption of alcohol; and further, that Tarr cooperate in drug and alcohol screening and mental health evaluation. Judge Schanzle-Haskins scheduled the next court appearance for Tarr on Dec. 17, 2019.
