REPORT: Incredible violence: 3 killed, 8 wounded during 3-hour span in major US city

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say at least 11 people were shot, including three who died, in a three-hour span on the city’s South and West sides.

Police say six people were shot at a park in the West Woodlawn neighborhood at around 1 a.m. Sunday. One of them, a 39-year-old man, died.

The article goes on to state the following:

The other five people who were shot were 24- and 21-year-old men who suffered leg wounds, a 21-year-old man who was grazed in the head, a 24-year-old woman who was shot in an arm, and a 19-year-old man who was shot in the back.

DML News offers the following additional information published by SUNTIMES.COM:

The second fatal shooting happened about 3:20 a.m. in the Englewood neighborhood. A 24-year-old man was outside in the 800 block of West 59th Street when someone in a passing car shot him multiple times, police said. He was shot in the chest, stomach, back and arms. The man later died at University of Chicago Medical Center.

Another man was fatally shot about 1:15 a.m. on the border of the Back of the Yards and Englewood neighborhoods on the South Side. The 29-year-old was sitting in a vehicle in the 1900 block of West Garfield Boulevard when someone walked up and shot him in the abdomen, according to police. The man drove himself down the street and then crashed into a parked vehicle near a gas station on Damen Avenue. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.

Additional nonfatal sho0tings reported include:

  • A 32 YO man was shot at around 1 a.m. when two people stepped out of a vehicle and shot him twice in the abdomen and once in the shoulder. He was listed to be in critical condition.
  • A 25 YO man was shot at about 3 a.m. in his leg. His condition has stabilized.
  • A 24 YO woman in the University Village neighborhood who tried to break up a fight between a relative and someone else at about 3:15 a.m. The other person then took out a gun and shot her in the face and stomach. Her condition is reported as  “stabilized.”
