A new report by the Pew Research Center confirmed that at least 61 percent of all illegal aliens living in the U.S. are concentrated in 20 major metropolitan areas across the country.
The report, issued Thursday, assumes that there are 11.1 million unauthorized immigrants in the United States, and states that 6.8 million of those are contained in the 20 major cities, with the top three being New York, Los Angeles, and Houston.
Even though the 20 cities impacted are home to 61 percent of all illegal aliens, only 36 percent of the total U.S. population lives in those cities.
The report is based on estimates from 2014. Since then, illegal immigration has soared to record numbers, which is not included in the report.
The Pew Report also stated that in 2014 unauthorized immigrants made up 3.5 percent of the total U.S. population and account for about one-fourth of all foreign-born U.S. residents.
