U.S. Border Patrol agents responded to a report of a large vessel washing ashore. Upon going inside of the boat, they discovered 2,400 pounds of marijuana.
On Monday, California State Park Rangers contacted the Border Patrol agents when they noticed an abandoned 25-foot Bayliner coming ashore at Calafia State Park near San Clemente.
As stated in a U.S. Border Patrol press release, “with assistance from the Rangers, agents pulled the vessel ashore for further inspection. Agents did not encounter any people on the boat or the surrounding area.”
Once inside the boat, the agents located several large bags that had 82 wrapped bundles of marijuana inside of them.
Per the report published by U.S. Customs and Border Protection the street value of the drugs were assessed at about $1.2 million.
The drugs and the vessel were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
