Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday mocked a report that Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) asked President Trump to nominate Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court by tweeting a GIF of former NBA star Michael Jordan.

McConnell’s official Twitter account tweeted the GIF in response to Washington Post reporter Robert Costa’s tweet, which said that Schumer urged Trump to tap Garland to the Supreme Court.

The article goes on to state the following:

Garland was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Obama in 2016. But the nomination was delayed by McConnell, with the GOP senator arguing that a justice shouldn’t be confirmed to the bench during an election year.

Many Democrats have seized on that argument to call McConnell a hypocrite, since he said the Senate would vote on President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee by this fall despite the midterm elections this November.
