A list of classified documents associated with the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election was compiled by Obama administration officials and given to key legislators prior to President Trump’s inauguration.

According to a Friday report from NBC, a former Obama official claimed that the list of document serial numbers was generated in early January and hand-delivered to senior members of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

The official noted that the action was taken in order to “share it with those on the Hill who could lawfully see the documents” and make it “harder to bury” the information.

The FBI recently confirmed ongoing investigations into Russian election meddling and possible collusion between Trump aides and Russia.

The House Intelligence Committee is also embroiled in the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the election.
