Report: Oscars’ Bus Tour Star a Convicted Felon

Movie stars once again proved “how smart and compassionate they are” as they gushed, kissed, and posed with a man at Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony, offering him and his fiancé public appearances, with one actor even offering to marry the couple.

The problem is that the man, Gary Alan Coe, is a registered sex offender and was just released from prison THREE days before appearing as a tour bus passenger and guest, as arranged by the show’s host, Jimmy Kimmel.

Coe was convicted of attempted rape and recently finished serving 22 years in prison for the crime.

The recent convict and his fiancé, Vickie Vines, were part of a stunt pulled by Jimmy Kimmel, who ushered in several tour bus passengers to see celebrities up close and personal inside the Dolby Theater while the ceremony was being broadcast. Coe immediately became the star attraction.

Coe, 59, who appeared to be a nice enough guy, posed for pictures with Denzel Washington and got to kiss Halle Berry’s and Nicole Kidman’s hands.

He has been referred to as “Gary from Chicago,” and celebrities went out of their way to prove how they can relate to the average guy during Gary’s appearance at the opening of the show.

To Coe’s credit, while in prison, he did attend the Corcoran Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Bakersfield, Calif., which is described as the “largest addiction treatment center in the world,” treating as many as 1,500 prisoners at once for addiction. The facility also assists inmates in recovering from their addictions, as well as readying them for life outside of prison, with weekly therapy and educational programs.

Coe is reported to have found religion in prison and is ready to settle down with his fiancé, Vickie.

Anthony Anderson, who stars in “Blackish.” offered to marry the pair on live television, since he is registered to perform weddings in California.
