The National Republican Senatorial Committee mocked Rep. Doug Collins’s continued attempt to unseat current Georgia Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler.

“This week for #PrimaryWatch we bring you (NOT) Primary Watch β€” for the Georgia Special Election,” the group tweeted out Friday. “*There is no primary*, and @kloeffler is running to keep her Senate seat and keep Georgians first. #GASen #gapol.”

The article goes on to state the following:

Collins announced last month that he was going to challenge Loeffler for her Georgia Senate seat, which she was appointed to recently. Since his announcement, the NRSC has blasted Collins for his “shortsightedness.”

President Trump had encouraged Governor Kemp to appoint Collins to the seat, but Kemp had refused.

One Twitter user responded, “Pretending Doug Collins doesn’t exist isn’t gonna work.”

Another supporter of Collins also hit back, tweeting, “@SenatorLoeffler not elected let the voters decide. The Georgia Senate seat belongs to the people not @NRSC and @senatemajldr.”

Matt Whitlock, NRSC Senior Adviser, retorted, “Kemp was elected and the Georgia constitution gives him the power to appoint. Others are free to challenge Loeffler but they do so knowing they’re helping a Democrat and hurting the President.”

Collins announced his campaign to run against Loeffler on January 29.

Friday, Collins tweeted, “The same D.C. establishment political swamp that tried to stop President Trump is trying to stop me now!”

“I know our campaign is on the right path, because the better we do, the louder the establishment political operatives squeal. We are going to fight the machine AND WIN!” Collins tweeted on Thursday.

On Wednesday, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee endorsed Collins, tweeting, “Proud to stand with @RepDougCollins a fighter against the corruption in DC, for sanctity of life, and ally of @realDonaldTrump that we need in the US Senate.”

Collins is calling Loeffler out for donating $1.6 million to Mitt Romney in 2012.
