Hollywood icon Robert Redford is lamenting the state of politics in the U.S.

In a statement posted to the Sundance Institute’s website, Redford wrote that “for the first time,” he feels “out of place” in his country.

“For the first time I can remember, I feel out of place in the country I was born into and the citizenship I’ve loved my whole life,” he wrote. “For weeks I’ve watched with sadness as our civil servants have failed us, turning toward bigotry, mean-spiritedness, and mockery as the now-normal tools of the trade.”

The article goes on to state the following:

Redford, who has said he will retire from acting after his new film “The Old Man and the Gun,” has been critical of President Trump and the GOP in the past.

Though the actor did not point to any specific current events or politicians, his statement, posted Friday, came amid the contentious fight over Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

Below is Redford’s entire statement.

  1. If Robert Redford feels as he said, “For weeks I’ve watched with sadness as our civil servants have failed us, turning toward bigotry, mean-spiritedness, and mockery as the now-normal tools of the trade”, then maybe he should #WalkAway, as his statement describes what/how the left has been not only the last couple weeks but the last 10 years!!!

  2. “For weeks I’ve watched with sadness as our civil servants have failed us, turning toward bigotry, mean-spiritedness, and mockery as the now-normal tools of the trade.” Not a bad description of his beloved socialist party I would say.

  3. Robert, I’m saddened that you, who have made millions of dollars from the capitalist system would now wish to turn the country into a socialist morass. Socialism has been tried again and again and it has failed every time.
Now that you are retiring, maybe you should take your millions to a country that is totally failing. Leave America and move to Venezuela. You and your money could help prop up the already failed system for maybe a month. There you could learn the truth of Margret Thatcher’s saying: “Socialism is great – – until you run out of other people’s money,”
BTW, the only civil servants who have failed us is the far left, liberal wing of the Democrat party.

  4. When the KKK was active they were democrats. People who cared about others joined the republican party. Then it changed to the democrats being the party of the common man. It changed again and now the evidence is out that the democrats is the party of big money, foreign influence, massive corruption, and discrimination against whites. Trump’s takeover of the republican party now puts it on the side of the common man and the betterment of America. Now that you see how fuuked up and corrupt the dem party is just #walkaway.
