Fox News reported that the President-elect’s transition team may is discussing whether or not they should make Mitt Romney apologize for cruel statements he made against Trump in an attack speech during the primaries.
A transition official told Fox’s Ed Henry that some people who are close to Trump want the former Massachusetts governor to apologize in order for him to be seriously considered for the position of Secretary of State.
During a speech in March, Romney criticized Trump, calling him a “con man,” “a fraud” and “a phony.”
“His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University,” Romney said during the speech. “He’s playing the members of the American public for suckers. He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat.”
In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Mike Huckabee said “There’s only one way that I think Mitt Romney could even be considered for a post like that and that is he goes to a microphone in a very public place and repudiates everything he said in that famous Salt Lake City speech, and everything he said after that.”
