Several high-profile Senate Democrats warned the Supreme Court in pointed terms this week that it could face a fundamental restructuring if justices do not take steps to “heal” the court in the near future.

The ominous and unusual warning was delivered as part of a brief filed Monday in a case related to a New York City gun law. Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, Richard Durbin, D-Ill., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., referenced rulings by the court’s conservative majority in claiming it is suffering from some sort of affliction which must be remedied.

The article goes on to state the following:

“The Supreme Court is not well. And the people know it,” the brief said. “Perhaps the Court can heal itself before the public demands it be ‘restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics.'”

The last part was quoting language from a Quinnipiac University poll, in which 51 percent favored such restructuring. In the same poll, 55 percent believed the Supreme Court was “motivated by politics” more than by the law.

  1. This whole gun violence issue could be solved once and for all with an added requirement to purchase ANY firearm.
    The best name for it would be the Mad Dog agreement that would be added to the ATF Form 4473 Firearm Transfer.
    The statement would be something like I……….. do agree that if I should ever go ‘psycho’ and start killing innocent people with a firearm, or ANY deadly weapon that, if captured alive I will be executed on the spot like a rabid dog. My agreeing to be held accountable ONLY if I would ever do such a horrendous act assures that I will not be harassed by government at all levels and my Second Amendment rights of self defense will not be infringed by useless gun regulations that restrict my rights as a law abiding gun owner.
    As long as I do not ‘go psycho’ I am to be left alone to buy what ever legal firearm and accessory and protect my self and my family with what ever I deem necessary without government harassment.
    I am not the problem! Stop wasting time and money harassing me because you government can’t/won’t do their job of removing the law life that preys among us.

    Mad Dog would separate the law abiding gun owners from the ‘bad guys’ and finally break government’s knee jerk, whack-a-mole game that always whacks the law abiding with more gun regulations and does nothing to stop law breakers. If a scumbag is intent on murder all other laws are a joke as well.

    • This statement makes sense, just may need a little law library rewrite, but it would stop alot of mess. More laws will not work until the laws already on the books are applied. I don’t think the crooked democrats should be antagonizing the Supreme Court Justices.
