A young woman recalled on the stand Monday the terrifying moment she was stabbed while celebrating her Fourth of July birthday — moments before her mother was murdered trying to protect her.
Tomiesha Abraham, 23, testified at a pretrial hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court to determine whether she had clearly seen her assailant Ashanti Daniels.
The article goes on to state the following:
Abraham said of the fight,, “She’s trying to get to me, I’m trying to get to her and by this time she has a knife in her hand.”
Moments later, Daniels allegedly stabbed her in the arm and torso.
Abraham fled, trying to escape the building on Lenox Avenue near West 115th Street, but encountered Daniels on a lower floor.
“She walked right past me and laughed in my face. I told her I didn’t want any problems,” said Abraham, who didn’t know yet that Daniels had allegedly murdered her mom, Michelle Kenny, 39.
At the time of the incident, The New York Daily News reported:
Two other suspects, Daniels’ boyfriend Tyson Martin, 28, who was charged with assault and James Martin, 27, who was charged with assault as well as tampering with evidence after he got rid of Daniels’ two knives, were awaiting arraignment Thursday.
