Billionaire Tom Steyer’s $20 million campaign working toward the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump is proceeding, even as congressional leaders say the timing is not right.
“Now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment,” said Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D- Md.), who say any consideration for impeachment should wait for the “special counsel’s investigation” to conclude, as well as other “inquiries” that “should be allowed to continue.”
According to The Washington Free Beacon, after Wednesday night’s doomed vote on a congressional resolution to consider impeachment, the 58 votes for impeachment bring Steyer’s expenditure on his project to $344,827.59 per vote.

Steyer’s campaign—made up of television ads, two billboard signs in New York City’s Time Square, and a website—has been backed by at least $20 million in spending.
Steyer has insisted on doubling down on the movement to impeach despite the suggestions of Democratic leaders such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), who called the movement to impeach Trump a “distraction.”
The impact of Steyer’s campaign was put to the test on Wednesday when Rep. Al Green (D., Texas) introduced articles of impeachment and the House voted overwhelmingly to kill the resolution.
Just 58 members of the 435 member body voted against killing Green’s resolution. There were 364 members—including 126 Democrats—who voted to table Green’s resolution.
During the 2016 election cycle, Steyer spent big money to get Democrats elected. For his trouble, he was labeled the “biggest loser” of the election cycle, as Democrats were dealt major defeats across the board, with Republicans earning majorities in the House, Senate, gubernatorial seats, and winning the presidency.
In fact, the Beacon reports that “a majority of the candidates [Steyer] directly supported through his political groups were defeated.”
With even Democratic leadership criticizing Rep. Green’s move to introduce articles of impeachment on Wednesday, and with Democratic operative David Axelrod labeling Steyer’s campaign for impeachment a “vanity project,” Steyer persists in his efforts.
As DML News CEO Dennis Michael Lynch said during Wednesday’s edition of “The Truth,” Steyer “is as liberal as they come. He wants [Trump] down.”
FOX initially removed the first round of Steyer’s ads, in October, but started running them again, airing during “Fox & Friends,” a program Trump watches faithfully.
“Fox News is running the ads again, and they’re taking the money,” Lynch criticized.
With Steyer’s impeachment petition going from 2.9 to 3.6 million signatures in about a week’s time, Lynch stated that FOX is facilitating the Steyer’s impeachment campaign against the president.
