Claim: Trump furious with Sessions’ decision

A firestorm over Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his meeting with the Russian ambassador erupted on Thursday while President Trump was away touring the new Navy ship, the USS Gerald R. Ford.

Sessions held a press conference, where he announced he had made the decision to recuse himself from any investigation into Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Reports have now come out that President Trump is furious over Sessions’ decision to recuse himself, saying Sessions should not have done it.

Washington Post reporter Robert Costa released two Twitter posts Saturday morning, saying, “Trump left WH in a fury on Friday, fuming about Sessions’ recusal and telling aides that Sessions shouldn’t have recused himself.”

In a second tweet, he continued, “President remarked to staff that Sessions/WHDOJ should have done more to counter Sessions story, that it was ‘bull,’ per aides familiar.”

Evan McMurray of ABC News took it even further, reporting that President Trump “went ballistic” and summoned senior staff to the Oval Office before leaving for Mar-a-Lago Friday.

By Sessions recusing himself, the reins for the Russia investigation were handed over to Deputy Attorney General Dana Boente, who is an Obama appointee.
