A Republican candidate for Florida State House lied about completing a degree from the Miami University in Ohio, school officials stated.
Melissa Howard, who is running for the Sarasota-based seat, claimed that she had completed a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1994. She would later bump the year up to 1996.
The article goes on to state the following:
After initial reports that she had lied about getting the degree, Howard traveled back to Ohio and posted a picture of her partial college transcript and a copy of her diploma.
But according to Miami University General Counsel Robin Parker, both of those documents were not real, FLA News Online reports.
Howard, 46, was found to have attended the school, but there were no records of her completing a degree.
According to the general counsel at the University, the school does not offer a Bachelor of Science in Marketing but does offer a Bachelor of Science in Business.
