A Virginia elementary school included on its website a link to the controversial Abolitionist Teaching Network, which the Biden administration recently backed away from and said it included in its post-coronavirus school reopening guidance in “error.”
A selection of links on the Fairfax County Public Schools website titled Local & National Organizations includes eight links — FCPS Pride, Second Story, NAKASEC, Showing Up for Racial Justice, Abolitionist Teaching Network (ATN), Black Lives Matter, Mijente and 18 Million Rising.
The article goes on to state the following:
The groups range from racial justice organizations to a charity for teenagers in crisis – but the ATN has gone as far as to claim “Whiteness” is a form of oppression.
When questioned about the link on Friday, the Fairfax County Public Schools also claimed it was a mistake, saying, “This content was posted in error by the school and has since been removed from the website.”
However, as of Friday evening, the link to the Abolitionist Teaching Network on the school’s website was still active.
Right on the front page of the Abolitionist Teaching Network is the following video, titled, “Abolitionist Teaching and the Future of Our Schools.”
In the webinar, co-founder Bettina Love declares their organization “is dedicated to not creating new schools or reimagining schools, but destroying schools that do nothing but harm Black and brown children.”
Love said her group will pay its “activists in residence” to travel around the country and “go into schools or communities and do the work of dismantling.”
“If you don’t recognize that White supremacy is in everything we do, then we got a problem. I want us to be feared,” Love said.
None of this is an error. They just didn’t think they’d get caught.

Nicole Neily, president of Parents Defending Education, warned, “It’s a sign things have gone off the rails when the people running the system are recommending resources that advocate burning down the system.”
