A report from Politico published Tuesday morning regarding the swirling troubles surrounding Chief of Staff John Kelly includes additional details about the firing of former White House aid Omarosa Manigault-Newman, who served as the communications director for the Office of Public Liaison until her ouster in December.
She was reportedly fired for using the White House car service to go to and from work, a service that was not legal for her role.
Politico stated of Kelly’s firing of Omarosa:
And in December, he dismissed the former director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison, Omarosa Manigault, who had been using the White House car service — known as “CARPET” — as an office pickup and drop-off service, something strictly forbidden by the federal government, according to three administration officials.
After Kelly dismissed her, Manigault tried to storm the White House residence to appeal to Trump, according to one of the officials, accidentally tripping an electronic Secret Service wire that monitors entry and egress from the residence.
The Washington Examiner elaborated:
Manigault became angry and said she wanted to speak with the president, but Kelly told her President Trump had already “signed off” on her employment status.
Manigault-Newman has now landed a role on the realty TV series “Celebrity Big Brother,” and has been busy scooping out slams against President Trump and his administration during the latest episodes.
