A podcast report from Bloomberg’s Dan Moss and Scott Lanman confirmed that the future for working class white Americans looks bleak. According to the report, job opportunities are limited for white Americans with no college degree, and many are falling victim to the opioid epidemic.
Working class and struggling white Americans are one group largely responsible for getting Donald Trump elected as president – and this is also the very group that is dying off, according to the podcast report.
A guest on the podcast, Anne Case, had conducted an eye-opening study on the issue in 2015, and has returned with an alarming update on the link between falling opportunities and rising mortality rates of middle-aged white people in America.
Case said other countries are not experiencing the opioid epidemic nearly as badly as America is. Established “legacy” churches are giving way to more independent “seeking” churches, which are not providing as much structure in people’s lives, she stated, and marriages are not as strong and lasting.
She admitted that both Bernie Sanders on the left and Donald Trump on the right recognized that working class America is collapsing and it will affect the future of the nation.
According to our CEO, Dennis Michael Lynch, the report fails to address the biggest driver of why white American workers are suffering. “If we really want to address the issue, then lets really address the issue honestly. First, if you’re white, you’re screwed when it comes to applying for college assistance. The boxes they offer on college applications are reserved for illegal immigrants, minorities, and foreign students. Next, there is this thing called Affirmative Action, which works against white workers. Last, but not least, the U.S. loves cheap labor, and so we allow our borders to remain wide open, and we take in more than one million immigrants each year, thus the result is a driving down of wages and a slimming of opportunities for the middle class, which, for the most part, is white,” said DML.
