Amid growing concerns over allegations of sexual misconduct from five different women against Alabama U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore, the Republican National Committee cut ties with the candidate Tuesday afternoon, withdrawing all fundraising support.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel reportedly held a conference call Tuesday with committee members to announce the decision to pull out of a joint fundraising agreement it had with Moore.

The RNC was also supporting a field program, paying about a dozen people to canvass for Moore in Alabama, prior to the state’s Dec. 12 special election. That program has been dropped from financial support as well.

The Hill noted that “New documents filed Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission show the RNC is no longer listed alongside other groups involved in the joint fundraiser.”

Under the old joint fundraising committee, a single donor could have given up to $521,200 per year when it included both the RNC and NRSC. Now that the two national party committees have pulled out, a donor can only give a maximum of $12,700 to the committee — $2,700 to Moore’s campaign committee during the election and $10,000 to the state party committee.

Moore has repeatedly denied all allegations launched against him, but after a fifth woman came forward Monday, alleging that Moore assaulted her in 1977 when she was 16 years old and he was a 32-year-old country district attorney, many additional Republican lawmakers have pulled their support, calling for him to abandon the race.
