Following the news of the sexual harassment charges against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel released a statement Thursday, challenging Democrats to return donations they had received from Weinstein, if they are really serious about standing up for women like they say they are.
Saturday, Romney McDaniel went after Hillary Clinton, calling her out in a Twitter post, over her silence on the matter.
“Whose side is Hillary Clinton on: Harvey Weinstein’s or his victims?” McDaniel said in a tweet Saturday evening.
Clinton, who has been the beneficiary of significant political contributions from Weinstein, has not yet spoken publicly about the sexual assault allegations against Weinstein. It has been reported that he has paid settlements to 8 different women who had filed charges against him.
Saturday attorney Lisa Bloom, who was representing Weinstein, announced that she had resigned as his adviser.
Weinstein has reportedly donated at least $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation, another $30,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund, and gave the maximum $5,400 allowed to Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.
