Hard rocker and avid Trump supporter, Kid Rock has announced he plans to run for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. He used Twitter to make the announcement.

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, wrote in his tweet that people are asking if the website “KidRockForSenate.com” is real.  He said it was indeed real and he is totally serious.

He would run as a Republican in 2018 to challenge incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow.

“I am definitely a Republican on fiscal issues and the military, but I lean to the middle on social issues. I am no fan of abortion, but it’s not up to a man to tell a woman what to do. As an ordained minister I don’t look forward to marrying gay people, but I’m not opposed to it,” Rock said.

Rock, who loves to use the “F-bomb,” dropped in on President Donald Trump at the White House in April and is sure to get the president’s endorsement.

If Kid Rock wins, he would be the first GOP candidate to hold the seat since 1998.
