Senator Bernie Sanders announced on Sunday that he’s planning to “introduce a Medicare-for-all, single-payer program” to Congress and that Republican leaders are welcome to come to the table on it.
With a nod to one of the president’s goals of bringing down prescription drug prices, the Vermont senator has said that such a plan could help with that.
“President Trump, come on board. Let’s work together,” said Sanders, adding, “Let’s end the absurdity of Americans paying by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.”
Sanders called the Republican health care bill, which was supposed to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, a “disastrous piece of legislation,” claiming that its sole purpose would have only been to serve as a tax break for the rich.
“The American people wanted it defeated,” said Sanders, adding, “And I’m glad that we were able to accomplish that.”
