According to a report by The Daily Caller, Anthony Scaramucci won’t be taking a salary for his new position as White House communications director, giving up a $179,000 annual compensation.
Scaramucci reportedly made $10-million from his investment firm, SkyBridge Capital. A financial disclosure form he completed for the Office of Government Ethics shows he earned $4.9 million from his ownership stake in SkyBridge, and over $5 million in salary, between Jan. 1, 2016, and the end of that June.
According to Politico:
Scaramucci’s financial filing values SkyBridge Capital at more than $50 million and states that he owns nearly 44 percent of the firm. When the sale of the company is completed, expected to be in the third quarter of this year, he will receive “the agreed-upon purchase price for his share of the sale proceeds,” according to the filing.
Bloomberg valued the Skybridge deal at between $200 million and $230 million when it was announced in January.
Scaramucci sold SkyBridge and joined the Export-Import Bank, where he also did not take his $172,100 annually salary.
Scaramucci was announced as the new communications director last week, and his bombastic style is already making waves. His previous political leanings have been questioned and his use of explicit language in talking to reporters raised eyebrows just days after he joined the Trump Administration.
Unlike his predecessor Barack Obama, President Trump also rejects taking a salary. In fact, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos reported last Wednesday that the president decided to donate the second quarter of his salary to the Department of Education.
