Ryan Lizza with The New Yorker says he received a phone call from newly appointed White House communications director, Anthony Scaramucci Wednesday night. Lizza claims the new White House communications director was upset about a tweet the writer had posted on Twitter.
According to Lizza, a senior White House official said Scaramucci was dining at the White House with President Trump, the First Lady, Sean Hannity, and the former Fox News executive Bill Shine. Scaramucci wanted to know, “Who leaked that to you?”
Lizza says he couldn’t divulge his source. Lizza reports Scaramucci then said, “What I’m going to do is, I will eliminate everyone in the comms team and we’ll start over.”
Lizza says Scaramucci complained about his staff, saying they “can’t help themselves” and continue to leak information.
“You’re an American citizen, this is a major catastrophe for the American country,” Scaramucci reportedly said to Lizza. “So I’m asking you as an American patriot to give me a sense of who leaked it.”
Lizza says Sacramucci said he would fire “the entire place” over the next two weeks, and that the reporter was therefore not protecting anyone.
Scaramucci’s unrest stemmed from the fact that he’d asked for a “honeymoon period” in which no one would leak anything. He was unhappy that they didn’t give it to him, according to Lizza, who surmised that Sacramucci ultimately felt Priebus was the source.
After indicating his intention to fire “three to four people” Friday, and after already letting one person go Wednesday, Scaramucci specifically targeted Priebus, Lizza says. “Reince Priebus—if you want to leak something—he’ll be asked to resign very shortly.”
According to Lizza, Scaramucci believes Priebus was worried about the dinner because he hadn’t been invited. He writes:
“Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac,” Scaramucci said. He channelled Priebus as he spoke: “ ‘Oh, Bill Shine is coming in. Let me leak the fucking thing and see if I can cock-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months.’ ”
Lizza says Scaramucci told him he’d called the F.B.I. and the Department of Justice over a Politico report regarding his financial-disclosure form. Thursday, the communications director virtually accused Preibus of leaking the form, calling the violation “criminal.”
“Are you serious?” I asked.
“The swamp will not defeat him,” he said, breaking into the third person. “They’re trying to resist me, but it’s not going to work. I’ve done nothing wrong on my financial disclosures, so they’re going to have to go fuck themselves.”
Scaramucci also told me that, unlike other senior officials, he had no interest in media attention. “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock,” he said, speaking of Trump’s chief strategist. “I’m not trying to build my own brand off the fucking strength of the President. I’m here to serve the country.”
He reiterated that Priebus would resign soon, and he noted that he told Trump that he expected Priebus to launch a campaign against him. “He didn’t get the hint that I was reporting directly to the President,” he said.
According to Lizza, Scaramuccci felt there were “four or five things” Priebus would do, including leaking the Hannity dinner and the his financial-disclosure form details.
Scaramucci reportedly ended the call himself, saying he had to start tweeting. Lizza says:
Minutes later, he tweeted, “In light of the leak of my financial info which is a felony. I will be contacting @FBI and the @TheJusticeDept #swamp @Reince45.”
With the addition of Priebus’s Twitter handle, he was making public what he had just told me: that he believed Priebus was leaking information about him. The tweet quickly went viral.
Scaramucci did tweet the post Lizza mentions, but it has since been deleted.
The reporter then references Scaramucci’s call to CNN, which he made while Lizza was on the air.
Lizza felt Scaramucci’s anger was related to his loyalty to the president, and said both Priebus and Bannon declined to comment on his report.
Anthony Scaramucci put out a tweet at 6:25pm EDT stating he uses colorful language.

Scaramucci has a checkered past when it comes to providing his allegiance to politicians. He “loved” Hillary Clinton and thought she should run for president. He then “loved” Obama and donated to his campaign. He then loved Gov. Scott Walker and joined his campaign for the president. When Walker dropped out, he then “loved” Jeb Bush until he dropped out. Then he finally “loved” Trump for president.
