DML OPINION – Under current law, America’s public schools must educate any child who wants an education, this includes illegal aliens. President Obama has pushed the rules even further, making it so school administrators are not permitted to ask for proof of residence, or proof of age. Thus, just do a Google search and you’ll find multiple reports of how parents are upset that 20-year-old men who cannot speak a lick of English are attending classes in high-schools throughout the country.
For the illegal alien, the rules that entitle them to a free education stop at the high-school level. This causes a problem for most illegal aliens — they claim college is too expensive (welcome to America). As of today, although some states offer in-state tuition to illegal aliens, they do not qualify for most scholarship programs. There are very few scholarships for illegals and they are hard to find.
To help her fellow illegal alien students get around such a hurdle, Sarahi Espinoza Salamancaan, an illegal alien from Mexico now living in California, has created a scholarship network that helps students like herself. The network comes in the form of an app called the DREAMer’s Roadmap, and it will launch this month for iOS and Android.
The app collects scholarships from different organizations. After the app launches, users will be able to find and share scholarship information via text, email or social media. DREAMer’s Roadmap currently has 500 scholarships on its database. According to it’s website, ‘Our mission is to help 10,000 students access scholarship opportunities in year one.’
So the question becomes, “How does an illegal alien fund the development of an app if she doesn’t have money for college?” Answer is she received $100,000 from Voto Latino Innovators Challenge. Voto Latino gives awards to five people with the best ideas in science, technology, engineering and math aimed at Latinos in the United States.
Can you imagine the backlash from the media and special interest groups if there was an organization that only handed money out to White kids with ideas in science, technology, engineering and math? Can you imagine the accusations of racism if there was an app designed specifically for White kids?
There are many White kids in America who can’t afford college. How many White kids would love to enter a contest to grab $100k to launch an app knowing they weren’t competing against any other races?
And lets not forget the sin of it all — how and why does an American-based scholarship program of any kind offer money to illegal aliens? Many American children who cannot afford college have parents who have paid taxes their entire life. Those taxes help our country stay afloat. How many of the American kids who cannot afford college have parents who fought in wars to help defend our freedoms? Many! The money should be going to Americans and nobody else.
Bottom line: America has lost its way and it needs to find itself real fast. I wonder if there’s app for such a thing?
