Schumer: Obamacare repeal won’t happen

“The reality is TrumpCare cannot pass the Senate,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told moderate Republicans in the House on Wednesday, asking them, “Why would you risk a yes vote for a bill that is devastating to your constituents and has virtually a minuscule chance, virtually no chance, of becoming law?”

Without the support of a single Democrat, the latest healthcare proposal cannot afford to lose more than two GOP votes.

Schumer also pointed to budgetary restrictions in trying to pass the healthcare legislation as further lessening its chances.

The latest version of the healthcare bill would provide waivers to states, letting their constituents opt out of certain ObamaCare laws.

“Drop repeal and then come talk to us about finding a bipartisan way forward,” Schumer advised the GOP members, adding, “We are always willing to work in a bipartisan way.”
