Schumer says he received “almost” a message from God

In an interview with Politico published Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D – N.Y.) explained just how important he feels his role is within the Democratic Party during the Trump administration.

The interview focused on Schumer’s going head-to-head with Republican leader Mitch McConnell as each party fights for their separate agendas.

Schumer rallied against the Republican effort to repeal and replace Obamacare, and now is focused on stopping the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.

Politico reported that, as Schumer “chomped on Cheerios and slurped on a Diet Pepsi during the interview,” he admitted that he “fell into a deep funk” for the first three days after Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election.

However, Schumer declared that on the fourth day, “it was like a thunderbolt hit me, almost a message from God. I said to myself, if Hillary won and you were majority leader, the job would be more fun and it would be a lot easier. And most importantly, you’d get to do some good things. But with Trump as president and you as minority leader, the job is much more important. That has fueled me ever since.”

To that end, Schumer posted multiple Twitter messages Tuesday, condemning Trump’s deportation of illegal aliens, and declaring that the Trump administration is tearing families apart.

He called for protesters to “keep organizing, keep calling, keep marching.”
