CNN reported Thursday that Fox commentator Sean Hannity pointed a gun at a colleague, a claim Hannity says is false.

In the story, CNN asserted that after a heated segment in 2016, Hannity turned on a laser sight while pointing a gun directly at his Fox News colleague, Juan Williams.

Both Hannity and his alleged target responded.

Hannity said he “never pointed” a gun at Williams.

He told the New York Daily News that he and Williams were discussing guns and that he “showed my good friend Juan Williams my unloaded firearm in a professional and safe manner for educational purposes only.”

Williams took to Twitter to defend Hannity in a series of tweets, saying:

“This incident is being sensationalized – everything was under total control throughout and I never felt like I was put in harm’s way.”

“It was clear that Sean put my safety and security above all else and we continue to be great friends.”
