White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer engaged in a heated battle of words with a news reporter regarding President Trump’s tweets about Nordstrom during a press briefing Thursday.
Jared Rizzi, White House correspondent for Sirius XM POTUS, charged Spicer with the fact that Trump takes the time to tweet about Nordstrom dropping his daughter Ivanka’s clothing line but offers no media updates or condolences over the Quebec mosque attack.
Spicer was quick to fire back at the prodding correspondent:
“You just brought that up. I literally stand at this podium and opened a briefing a couple of days ago about the president and his condolences. I literally opened the briefing about it. You’re equating me addressing the nation with a tweet. That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard.”
Rizzi tried to defend his question, further reiterating Trump’s lack of tweets addressing the Quebec incident itself.
Spicer blows him off in favor of the next question, uttering, “This is silly.”
