A New Jersey security officer at a cash vault and armored car company has been charged with stealing $100,000 from the business on his first day of work, Fairfield police said Thursday.
Larry Brooks, 19, of Elizabeth, who worked for Garda, was arrested after the theft was captured by company surveillance cameras, according to township Police Chief Anthony Manna.
Manna said security officers reportedly found $85,900 in a parked vehicle in Elizabeth but added there is no definitive information on what happened to the remaining cash.
Garda did not return messages seeking comment Thursday afternoon.
