Senate Democrats to Stand With Trump

After 59 members of Congress, and counting, have vowed not to attend President-elect Donald Trump’s Inauguration on Friday, many Senate Democrats have come forward saying they will not be a part of that rebellious group.

The Washington Post reported that so far, not a single Senate Democrat has joined the boycott, and several Senate members have explained why they are choosing to attend the inauguration.

“You have to show respect for the office,”said Rep. John Yarmuth.

“I respect everybody’s choice in this,” Sen. Cory Booker reportedly told New Jersey reporters. ““My personal feeling is this is the peaceful transition of power.”

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) said he was definitely going to the inauguration.  “I want to be there,” Brown said, stating that his presence would “remind Trump” of the issues on which they are divided.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said, “I will be there as well.”

On the other hand, nearly 60 House Democrats are not willing to participate in this peaceful transition of power and instead, as leaders in the U.S., are choosing to magnify a divided country.

“The Russians participated in helping this man get elected,” said Democratic Rep. John Lewis. “And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton. I don’t plan to attend the inauguration.”

Lewis dd not expand on his comment regarding Hillary Clinton and the content released in her emails.  The Washington Post, a liberal publication, was also quick to avoid all other factors that contributed to Clinton’s loss.

The Washington Post reported that many Senate Democrats have the millions of constituents in their areas to consider, who voted for Trump.  If they do not show up to the ceremonies, they could be taking a huge risk, as 25 Democratic Senators are up for reelection in 2018.
