Seniors fear they’ve been scammed out of graduation trip

Seniors from Westfield High School in Virginia had been waiting for the “big trip” to the Bahamas since freshman year, but it won’t happen.  This year’s class might end up breaking what is a tradition at the school, after their travel agent at left them hanging.

This was the first year the students used the website to plan their trip, Leenah Hegazy told Fox 5. Hegazy and 20 others then each put down $1,300 and waited for their plane tickets to arrive.

When she would inquire about the location of the tickets to the travel agent “George”, it soon became apparent to Hegazy that something wasn’t right.

“He would never give out confirmations or anything,” she says. “And at that time, I asked him, ‘When can I see the plane tickets? When can I see the confirmation?’ And he said, ‘I have the plane tickets but I don’t want to give them to you so you give them to your group and then the flight changes.’”

That was the last time the group was able to contact the travel agency. They are still weighing options how to move forward.  As of now it appears George has taken off with the money.
