Representative-elect Greg Gianforte (R-Mont.) received his sentence Monday for assaulting reporter Ben Jacobs last month.
Gianforte, who won Montana’s vacant House seat regardless of the incident, will need to complete 40 hours community service, 20 hours anger management, and pay a $385 fine.
Gianforte’s campaign classified the incident as “aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist,” after it happened but Gianforte has since issued a full apology.
“I am sorry for what I did and the unwanted notoriety this has created for you. I take full responsibility.”
