Last night, Attorney General Jeff Sessions appeared on Fox News with Tucker Carlson to explain the meetings he had with a Russian ambassador during the 2016 presidential campaign, and why he recused himself from the Department of Justice’s investigations into Russia on Thursday afternoon.
Yesterday, Sessions came under fire from Democrats who are calling for him to resign because they say he lied during his confirmation hearings last month when asked if he met with Russian officials during the election.
During the hearings, Sessions said he did not meet with Russian officials acting as a champion for the Trump campaign.
Sessions did, however, meet with a Russian ambassador, but he did so acting as a member of the Senate. The former senator from Alabama noted he met with a total of 25 ambassadors last year.

Democrats like Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) are calling for his resignation because of a meeting Sessions held with the Russian ambassador on September 8, 2016.
Attorney General Sessions has no plans of resigning and has the complete confidence of the president. However, as noted above, he has recused himself from all investigations involving Russia, the Trump campaign, and the 2016 elections.
