During a Tuesday confirmation hearing, Senator Jeff Sessions promised to recuse himself from any investigation involving Hillary Clinton.
This comes after Sessions made politically charged comments criticizing Clinton during the election. He was also a known Trump supporter.
“I believe that could place my objectivity in question,” Sessions told Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley. “I believe the proper thing would be for me to recuse myself.”
Sessions is officially Donald Trump’s nominee for Attorney General. During the confirmation hearing he vowed he would not get involved with any investigation involving Hillary Clinton whether it regards her email investigation or the Clinton Foundation.
At one point during the election, Sessions said Clinton should go to jail for her email scandal.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Sessions stated his deputy will take over any Clinton investigation if he is confirmed.
