A group of seven students, ages 19 to 21, at the University at Albany were arrested for a barbaric hazing incident Thursday against four young women.

Police showed up at a residence on Hamilton Street in Albany early Thursday morning, after responding to a noise complaint.   There they found four female victims blindfolded while being forced to eat mud and garbage.

The abusers were also reportedly pouring rotten eggs, milk and urine onto the women, and stepping on them with their high heels.

One of the victims needed medical attention and was taken to the Albany Medical Center, where she was treated and released for an allergic reaction.

The seven women were charged with one count each of first-degree hazing (a misdemeanor) and second-degree hazing (a violation.)

Charged were: Katrina Bergvoy, 19; Heaven Guanco, 19; Tereyza Martin, 20; Chinazo Ezekwem, 21; Nicole Johnson, 21; and Jessica Raynor, 21, all of Albany; as well as Monica Vitagliano, 19, of Copiague.

One student said she dropped out of the group’s “pledging process” earlier, because they were so abuse.  “They would say like ‘you’re worthless,’ or ‘you’re a stupid ****,” she said.

Another victim told police the students told her to get on the ground and forced her to eat what appeared to be mud while pouring rotten milk and eggs, mold-covered food and the liquid that smelled like urine onto her face, reported PIX11 News.

The police press release described the incident as being related to a sorority initiation, but a spokesman for the University at Albany said the group is not recognized or sanctioned by the university as a sorority, reported the Daily Gazette.

The group did call themselves a sorority, however, using the name “‘Alpha Omicron Pi.”

The university released the following statement: “The University at Albany has a zero tolerance policy on hazing. While we cannot discuss individual students due to federal privacy laws, any student involved in hazing is violating rules of the University’s Student Code of Conduct.”

Just two years ago, another hazing incident involving an “unsanctioned” fraternity left a University At Albany student dead.  Sophmore Trevor Duffy, 19, of the Bronx, died November 16, 2014 of alcohol poisoning when he was forced to drink a half gallon of vodka.  Seven students were charged in his death as well.
