Shocking number of non-citizen registered voters discovered in Virginia

A new report from The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) adds validity to President Trump’s frequently-voiced concerns about illegal aliens voting in U.S. elections.

The study, which scrutinized data from six counties and two cities in the state of Virginia, found that “1,000 non-citizens were registered to vote in those jurisdictions between 2011 and 2016, and that 200 of them actually voted.” The numbers led PILF to conclude “that a potentially significant  number of non-citizens vote illegally in Virginia.”

Edgardo Cortes, the top state elections official who runs the Virginia Department of Elections (ELECT) told reporters from the Washingtonian that “claims of voter fraud in Virginia during the November 8 election are unfounded.” He said, “Virginia’s election was well administered by our 133 professional local registrars, with help from hundreds of election officials and volunteers who worked to guarantee a good experience for eligible Virginia voters. The election was fair and all votes cast by eligible voters were accurately counted.”

However, since 2014, PILF has been “canvassing election clerks county by county, city by city, demanding they turn over information on noncitizens purged from voters lists and whether they had voted,” according The Washington Times.

Elections officials in Virginia did not want to turn voter information over to PILF, which issued its first report in October, charging that the state was covering up the fact that “thousands of non-citizens are still registered to vote in Virginia.”

Examples of illegal voters found through DMV records caused PILF to make the case for even more illegal voters, since such voters were discovered “mostly by accident and not as part of a statewide program to monitor lists and weed out aliens.”

According to PILF, “It is, however, likely that based on discoveries to date, thousands of noncitizens remain registered and eligible to vote throughout the Commonwealth.” The group’s findings come from counting people, not polls, noted the article, which added that not only does their evidence point towards the fact that illegal voting is taking place, “Polls show they vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.”
