Around 2:30 am in the Bronx, three men received knife wounds inside El Economico Restaurant on Broadway, when a man pulled a blade and attacked the victims.   Police say the trouble started when the owner refused to serve the attacker, so he pulled out his knife and started attacking people.

One man, 50, was slashed on his left cheek, from his eyelid to his cheek, and a 25-year-old received a cut on top of his head.   A 30-year-old man who tried to disarm the attacker was cut on his left hand.     The attacker escaped.

A separate incident occurred in Queens, about 4:50 am.   Guillermo Torres, 20, and his girlfriend were at Cibao’s Restaurant in Jackson Heights, when he became jealous of three other men who offered to buy his girlfriend a drink.   Torres went outside to get a machete, then waited outside.  When the three men left the restaurant, he attacked them.    The men received cuts to their heads and hands, including one broken wrist, and were all taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Torres was arrested and charged with counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

His legal status is unknown.
