Soros Funds “Documenting Hate” Site

A liberal nonprofit media outlet, ProPublica, funded by George Soros, just came out with a new project called “Documenting Hate,” which claims to expose hate crimes against victimized liberal groups.

ProPublica considers itself an independent, nonprofit news outlet that was created in response to the violent attacks and hate crimes that transpired after the presidential election.

According to ProPublica’s website, the 2016 election “left many in America afraid of intolerance and the violence it can inspire.”

Documenting Hate” is supposed to give a voice to hate crimes and bias incidents.

The site claims that the “need for trustworthy facts on the details and frequency of hate crimes and other incidents born of prejudice has never been more urgent” because there is “simply no reliable national data on crimes.”

Therefore, the media site has called upon a “national coalition of news organizations, civil-rights groups and technology companies intent on creating a database of reported hate crimes and bias incidents” ranging from “hate-inspired murders to anti-Semitic graffiti to racist online trolling.”

Among the site’s partnered organizations are liberal and civil-rights groups like Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Univision, and BuzzFeed. In addition, other groups in charge of handling “Documenting Hate” include The Root (Univision affiliate), Google News Lab, The New York Times Opinion Section, University of Miami School of Communications.

According to ProPublica’s homepage:

Hate crimes and bias incidents are a national problem, but there’s no reliable data on the nature or prevalence of the violence. We’re collecting and verifying reports to create a national database for use by journalists, researchers and civil-rights organizations.

Victims, journalists, and civil rights groups are being encouraged by notify the newsroom site via their “Tell My Story” form to inform them of any hate-related incidents. The project also plans to create “real-time alerts” and “tip sheets” for journalists, says the report.

George Soros isn’t the only donor.  According to Newsbusters, other large donors to the liberal media outlet include Knight Foundation, Ford Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Marisla Foundation, and Tides Foundation.
