In his largest effort yet to fundamentally transform America’s justice system, globalist billionaire George Soros has launched an all-out attack on America’s favorite sheriff in Arizona – Joe Arpaio.
It is a war between the man who promotes open borders against the sheriff who has been tough on enforcing America’s immigration laws.
Politico reports that George Soros has now contributed $2 million to the Maricopa Strong PAC, intent on removing Sheriff Joe from office, and trying to replace him with Democrat candidate Paul Penzone.
Along with Soros’ donation, money is coming in from other liberal donors, including $500,000 from Texas energy billionaires John and Laura Arnold, and $250,000 from the widow of Apple founder Steve Jobs, Laurene Powell Jobs.
In other words, wealthy globalists from other states are seeking to influence the sheriff election in Arizona.
In August, we reported how Soros is pouring money into local elections all across the nation, in a plan to transform the justice system by recruiting and funding his own candidates.
Soros-backed groups are currently spending big in three big-city district attorney races: Houston’s Harris County, where Soros has contributed over $1 million, according to local campaign finance filings; Gilpin and Jefferson counties outside Denver, where Soros has given about $1.5 million to unseat an incumbent; and Phoenix’s Maricopa County, where a Soros-funded PAC has also spent over $1 million against the Republican district attorney, Bill Montgomery.
But Soros’ spending against Arpaio, a high-profile liberal boogeyman, is his single biggest investment in a local race this year, as well as the billionaire’s first effort against a sheriff. It folds in immigration reform, another policy passion of Soros’, alongside criminal justice reform.
Soros’ spokesman, Michael Vachon, admits the all-out assault on Arpaio:
“We made a major investment in the effort to defeat Joe Arpaio for two reasons. First, Joe Arpaio has been a stain on the justice system in Arizona for more than two decades, violating civil rights and abusing his office. Second, his influence on the national conversation about immigration has been poisonous. This election is an opportunity to send a message: When matched on an even playing field, the values of justice and inclusion will defeat the politics of fear-mongering and intolerance.”
Arpaio has attacked Soros for trying to buy a local race, and has spent about $2.8 million airing his own TV ads. However, several polls have shown Soros’ candidate, Paul Penzone, leading in the race.
