The attorney general of the state of New York has been joined by those of 12 other states in alerting the Trump administration Friday via letter that they intend to challenge in court any effort to roll back rules regarding vehicle emissions.

In March, President Trump asserted that U.S. vehicle fuel-efficiency standards were too tough on the automobile industry and ordered a review of the standards from 2022-2025 put in place by the Obama administration.

According to automakers, including General Motors Co, Ford Motor Co and Toyota Motor Corp, the Obama administration did not conduct a proper feasibility review prior to establishing the standards.
