On Friday, Steve Forbes, the editor-in-chief of self-proclaimed Forbes magazine, made an appearance on Fox News’ “Your World” where he commented on President Donald Trump’s recent tax discussions.
Earlier Friday, Trump mentioned that an announcement in regards to tax reform would be coming on Wednesday, a restructuring that Trump says “begun long ago”.
Speaking with host Neil Cavuto, Forbes expressed his approval for expected tax cuts, saying it’s a politically savvy move by Trump. “I think he’s recognized that if he doesn’t get this economy moving in a way that people visibly feel it, he and the Republicans are going to be in deep trouble next year,” Forbes said.
The former Republican presidential candidate also discussed his hope that Trump would be able to haggle with the Republicans in Congress to approve potential tax breaks.
“When you make an investment, it doesn’t mean the building rises up the next day, or the factory rises up the next day, or the services are available the next day,” Forbes said. “It takes time to make these things happen. … Why aren’t they realistic about how the world works?”
