For the second time in five days, the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun was attacked. More people were killed in the attacks, although damage was minimal in comparison to the sarin gas attack leveled on the area on Tuesday, which resulted in the response by President Trump to fire cruise missiles at a Syrian air base.
The latest attack – which has not yet been attributed to Syrian or Russian forces – was reigned onto what was described as a “ghost town” due to the devastation earlier in the week, which resulted in a total of 87 deaths that included 31 children and 20 women.

Residents of Khan Sheikhoun had hoped the U.S. strikes on Friday would have had more of an effect on the military capabilities of the Assad regime. It is unknown if the warplanes used in Saturday’s attack were from the Shayrat military airfield, at which 20 Syrian war jets were destroyed by U.S. Tomahawk missiles.
