According to newly uncovered documents, the State of California’s legislature is paying a high priced D.C. law firm to fight against the Trump administration.
Under a Freedom of Information Act request, Judicial Watch was able to uncover details of the transaction, including costs and strategy. The documents show California hired the law firm on a retainer for a whopping $25,000 a month.
The firm is Covington, an elite legal practice in downtown Washington, DC that includes former Attorney General Eric Holder among its partners.
The proposal indicates that Holder’s firm will fight and oppose President Donald Trump’s agenda in California. Specifically, the firm is gearing up to challenge the Trump administration’s environmental, immigration and health care policies.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said, “The new records show California state legislators are wasting tax dollars to bankroll another corrupt politician – Eric Holder – under the pretense of attacking the Trump administration. This expensive contract is crony corruption pure and simple. The swamp of public corruption has taken over California.”
