Teacher found dead after being accused of sexual relationship with student

WISCONSIN – A former high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has been found dead from an apparent suicide.

Christian Tomsey, 39, who was an English teacher at Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, was fired from his job following a student’s allegation of having an inappropriate relationship with the teacher in 2009, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

School officials sent a letter home to parents on Monday, the same day Tomsey was found dead. The letter read: “Upon learning of the allegation, our administration immediately conducted a thorough investigation into the situation, which resulted in the termination of Mr. Tomsey’s employment.”

Tomsey was taken into custody last week on potential charges of sexual assault of a student by school staff and possession of child pornography, police said.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office is now investigating Tomsey’s death as a possible suicide. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
