Texas woman Carol Denise Richardson, 49, was arrested in a Houston suburb for theft Tuesday, Texas law enforcement officials report.

Richardson, possessing an extensive criminal record, was granted clemency from a life sentence for selling cocaine by former president Barack Obama last year.

“This defendant was literally given a second chance to become a productive member of society and has wasted it,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Ted Imperato said in a statement released by his office.

She was convicted by a federal jury in spring 2006 for intent to distribute crack cocaine. On top of an already robust criminal record, the conviction landed Richardson a life sentence. A sentence she may end up serving again.

“She has clearly shown a willful disregard for the law and must face the consequences for her crimes and actions.”
