Thousands of bees discovered in walls of home

A former NYPD detective didn’t realize how bad the bee problem was at his house until he hired an apiarist to get a closer look inside. Roughly 70,000 bees had nestled into his bedroom walls!

Using thermal imaging and a fiber optic camera, the apiarist found a huge colony that had extremely large hives inside the walls of Anthony Planakis’ home.

The bees were taken via a vacuum cleaner to a beekeeper in Locus valley.

Oddly enough, Planakis was the department’s beekeeper while he was on the force and left his position in 2014 after being accused of keeping the bees he removed in his own backyard.
