Threatre Crowd Boos Mike Pence at Hamilton Performance

It wasn’t exactly a warm welcome.  Vice-President Elect Mike Pence went to watch a performance of the “Hamilton” musical Friday evening at a New York theatre, and was loudly booed by the crowd as he entered.

Social media posts about the incident make it clear that the pro-immigrant liberal audience are opposed to Pence because of his positions on abortion, gay marriage and illegal immigration.

As Pence entered the theatre and made his way to his seat, the boos began, and it was reported that jeers from the audience continued intermittently throughout the performance, with the actors having to pause at one point.  Extended applause also erupted during the line, “Immigrants, we get the job done.”

The Broadway musical is about the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of America’s founding fathers, who was also the first U.S. Secretary of Treasury.

At the end of the play, as Pence was about to leave, the actors stood on stage and declared they had a message for Pence.   Brandon Dixon, who plays Arron Burr, the nation’s third vice-president, preached, “We are the diverse America, who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our  American values and to work on behalf of all of us. All of us.”
